TTPRADARMost guides to Global Entry in Washington, DC point travelers to one place: Dulles Airport. That's incomplete. CBP operates two separate, independently bookable enrollment options for the DC metro area, and they don't share a waitlist, a scheduler entry, or a wait time.
Two enrollment centers, not one
The first is a Washington, DC Enrollment Center downtown. The second is a separate enrollment center inside the terminal at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). CBP lists them as two distinct locations in its enrollment center directory, and each has its own entry in the Trusted Traveler Programs scheduler.
That separation matters. A short wait at Dulles tells you nothing about the downtown center, and vice versa. If you're only checking one, you're only seeing half the picture.
The downtown DC Enrollment Center
The downtown center is inside the Ronald Reagan Building at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, a federal office building near Federal Triangle Metro, not an airport terminal. For a DC resident who isn't flying anywhere soon, it's often the more convenient of the two options simply because it doesn't require a trip to Dulles.
Downtown DC can also be one of the faster options nationally. On September 14, 2026, TTPRadar's daily scan of the CBP scheduler found the downtown DC center showing same-day interview availability, one of only eight centers out of 114 monitored nationwide sitting at a zero-day wait that day. The national range that same day ran from 0 days at the fastest centers to 162 days at the slowest, a reminder of how much wait times can diverge from one center to the next, even within the same metro area.
Dulles Airport and Enrollment on Departure
Dulles has its own enrollment center inside the terminal, booked and tracked separately from downtown DC. It also offers something downtown doesn't: since February 2024, Dulles has run an "Enrollment on Departure" option at a dedicated office near Gate B41 in Concourse B, open daily from noon to 8 p.m.
This lets a conditionally-approved applicant finish their Global Entry interview same day, before any upcoming domestic or international flight, without booking a separate appointment in advance. You'll need your travel document, a proof-of-residency document, and a same-day boarding pass. It's a real advantage if you're already flying out of Dulles and would rather not schedule a separate trip.
Don't confuse this with "Enrollment on Arrival," a different CBP program that lets conditionally-approved applicants finish their interview with a CBP officer while clearing passport control on an inbound international flight. It only works at airports CBP has specifically designated for it, and that list changes. Confirm your specific arrival airport is currently participating directly on CBP's site before you count on it instead of booking a center appointment.

Checking and switching between them
New applicants can't walk in at either location. You need to be conditionally approved online first and hold a scheduled interview appointment before showing up. Walk-ins at CBP enrollment centers are reserved for existing Trusted Traveler members handling document, name, or address updates, or returning at CBP staff's request, not first-time applicants.
If you already booked an interview, you're not stuck with your original choice. The CBP Trusted Traveler Programs portal lets you reschedule for free, and rescheduling routes you back through the same location-and-time picker used at booking. If downtown DC opens a sooner slot than Dulles, or the reverse, you can rebook into it directly.
The practical move is to check both before you book, and check both again if your first choice is slow.
