Global Entry App Retires September 15, 2026

CBP is shutting down two apps at once. On September 15, 2026, both the Global Entry mobile app and the Trusted Traveler Programs mobile app go away, replaced by a single new app called Trusted Traveler.

If you use the Global Entry app to submit your arrival information from your phone instead of standing at a kiosk, this affects your next trip home. Here is what actually changes, what you need to do, and what stays exactly the same.

What changes on September 15

The Global Entry app and the Trusted Traveler Programs app are both being retired and merged into one product. Instead of maintaining separate apps for separate purposes, CBP is consolidating everything into a single Trusted Traveler app.

The new app does what the current Global Entry app does now: it lets you submit your arrival information from your phone on landing, skipping the kiosk line. The difference is scope. Where the old Global Entry app was built around a single membership, the new app is designed to manage multiple Trusted Traveler Program memberships, including NEXUS and SENTRI, in one place. If you hold more than one Trusted Traveler credential, you no longer need separate tools to manage them.

What you need to do before the cutover

Download the new Trusted Traveler app and use it for your next arrival after September 15, 2026. The old Global Entry app stops working on that date, so plan to switch beforehand rather than finding out at the airport.

Beyond installing the new app, there is nothing else on your end. You do not need to reapply for Global Entry, generate a new account, or contact an enrollment center. It is a straightforward app swap, not a re-enrollment.

What stays the same

Your Global Entry membership itself is unaffected; it remains active exactly as before.

Your login credentials carry over automatically. The same account you use for the app today works with the new app and with the separate Trusted Traveler Programs web portal, which is where interview scheduling and application status live. That portal is a distinct system from the mobile apps being replaced.

In short: same membership, same login, same web portal. Only the phone app itself is being swapped out.

Why this is worth planning around

An app that quietly gets replaced is easy to miss until you land at an airport and the one on your phone is not the one you're supposed to use. Since CBP has given a firm date, the simple move is to update before your next international arrival rather than finding out mid-trip.

If you are still waiting on Global Entry approval or an interview and want to track appointment openings in the meantime, TTPRadar's Global Entry wait times page and free browser alerts cover the parts of the process this app change does not touch.
