CBP announced on October 9, 2026 that a new Global Entry Enrollment and Trusted Worker office will open on Tuesday, October 13, in the Edward H. McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. It is on the domestic baggage claim level. CBP is opening it in partnership with Delta Air Lines and the Wayne County Airport Authority.
The catch: there are no appointments. Interviews are first-come, first-served and depend on CBP staffing.
What changes for Detroit interview supply
Detroit gets a second place to finish a Global Entry interview. It adds to the existing enrollment center in the Evans Terminal. It does not replace it.
The release gives no capacity figure, so we cannot tell you how many extra interviews the office will add. Treat it as an additional route to an interview, not a guaranteed fix for waits.
We also have no Detroit wait time to report. Our October 10 scan did not surface Detroit-specific slot data, and no Detroit center appeared among the soonest or longest. The longest nearby was Cleveland, Ohio, at 40 days.
Where it is and when it is open
- Location: Edward H. McNamara Terminal, domestic baggage claim level.
- Opens: Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Weekends: not listed as open.
Interviews depend on CBP staffing, so do not assume every hour of the posted schedule is covered. Plan with some slack, especially if you are connecting to a flight.
McNamara versus Evans
| Office | Appointment needed | Bookable in the TTP scheduler |
|---|---|---|
| McNamara Terminal (new) | No, first-come, first-served | No |
| Evans Terminal (existing) | Yes | Yes |
The practical difference is how you get in. Evans works like any other enrollment center: you book an interview appointment and show up at your time. McNamara works on whoever walks in, within staffing limits.
Who it serves
Global Entry applicants
You need conditional approval first. Complete the online application through the Trusted Traveler Programs system, get conditionally approved, then interview in person to finalize enrollment.
CBP says eligible applicants can interview when arriving internationally, while traveling domestically through the terminal, or before an outbound flight. That makes it useful if you are already passing through DTW. If you would rather have a fixed time, book an interview appointment at an enrollment center. Enrollment on Arrival is another option.
The release does not list documents to bring, and we could not confirm a current list from CBP's own pages. Check CBP's Global Entry page before you go.
Trusted Worker applicants
The office is also an additional Trusted Worker location for airport employees who need CBP endorsement to access Federal Inspection Service areas. The release does not describe that process further, so employees should ask their employer or CBP about the steps.
How to check for slots
For the McNamara office, there are no slots to check. You cannot book it, and no alert will tell you about an opening, because there is nothing to open. The only test is walking up during hours.
For Evans, the usual rules apply: appointments appear and disappear in the scheduler. Our live wait times page shows the current picture by enrollment center, and the locations list covers every center we monitor. If you want to be told when an Evans slot appears, free browser alerts are available.
What we do not know yet
Several things are unconfirmed: how many applicants the office can handle in a day, whether walk-in waits will be short, and how staffing will hold up.
We could only read the release as republished on EIN Presswire, because cbp.gov blocks our server. Confirm the details with CBP before you plan a trip around them.
